We will be trekking through dense jungle in a tropical environment. Remember you are at risk of dehydration and tropical disease. It is imperative that you see a doctor at least 2 weeks prior to departure. Your doctor will administer any required innoculations and prescribe anti-malarial medication; some anti-malarial medications must be taken prior to your trek.
We recommend you bring the following in your personal first-aid kit:
- Anti-malarial medication (as prescribed by your doctor)
- Tropical strength insect repellent (Aeroguard, Bushmans or Rid, no aerosol cans please)
- Pain-killers (Panadol or Aspirin)
- One roll of strappling tape (Elastoplast)
- Band-aids
- Steri-wipes or cotton pads and disinfectant (Betadine)
- Vaseline (rub on feet to prevent blisters)
- Sun block/lip balm
- Rehydration salts (Gastrolyte)
- Anti-diarrhea medication (as prescribed by your doctor)
